Graduation Day from Counseling School of Healing and Destiny Saturday, December 13, 2008 Since coming to the Zion Project House the girls have all been going through the School of Healing and Destiny, which is a counseling program taught by Sarita and our Partner Mama Shekinah. The girls have all grown tremendously and we are so proud of them! At the graduation ceremony it was beautiful to see how much the school has impacted the lives of the girls and the other 40 pastors who completed the course. Today the pastors do their community outreach practicum by teaching community members some of what they have learned. Pray they may speak with boldness! Here is a testimony from one of the girls who completed the course: “When I was in Unyama camp I stayed in my uncle’s home. They chased my mom away because she has AIDS. We were living in a church and my mother was very sick so we could not pay for a house. I was suffering from pneumonia. People told us we had a spirit of rejection on us because people were always chasing us away. I started praying that God would change that. We used to fellowship at the Action International house but when they left we did not know where we would go. Soon, God answered my prayers because Mama Sarita came to rent the house and she let us stay there for free. She even lets us use water for free. And now I live with her. I had given up on my life. But now I know that God hears us. Now I’m going to go back to school.” -Pamela-
Celebration at Awer Camp December 2008 (Girls from the support group dancing!)
Zion Project has been holding a support group for child mothers in the Awer Camp (an Internally Displaced Person's Camp, near the ZP House). Recently the Support Group did a drama to educate the community on the difficulties of becoming pregnant as a young girl. There was lots of bwola dancing (a traditional Acholi dance). Janet, one of the girl's staying in the Zion Project House who gave her heart to Christ her first week with us, shared her testimony! We are so proud of her, as before she never would have gotten up in front if a group of her peers. She has grown so much!
